Leadership
Freshman Year
In Leadership, freshman students learn to develop skills in areas of communication, emotional intelligence, operations, and professional development. The class must complete a service-learning project as a capstone activity of the course. Throughout the course, students are presented situations in which they must problem-solve and apply academic and critical-thinking skills.
Wealth Management
Freshman Year
In Wealth Management, students develop skills in financial literacy. Through the completion of projects, students gain knowledge in economic decision making, personal financial management, and investing. This course is completed in the second semester of freshman year of high school.
Business Software Applications
Freshman Year
This course is mandatory for freshman students in order for them to be exposed to the technological aspects of the business world. Students are exposed to a variety of computer software applications, such as PowerPoint, Excel Sheets, and Microsoft Word. Students complete multiple projects designed to expand their knowledge about these applications.
Principles of Business
Sophomore Year
Students develop understanding and skills in areas of business law, economics, financial analysis, human resources management, information management, marketing, operations, and strategic management in this course. Students acquire an understanding and appreciation of the business world through the use of project-based learning.
Business Economics
Sophomore Year
Students develop skills in areas of economics, entrepreneurship, operations, and professional development in Principles of Economics. Students begin to understand and appreciate economic decision-making in the business world as well as augmenting their knowledge of entrepreneurial contributions. Students must apply academic and critical-thinking skills when presented problem-solving situations.
Accounting I
Sophomore Year
This one-year course is designed to develop an understanding of accounting and finance principles. Emphasis is placed on introductory accounting procedures and knowledge of finance as applied in such areas as banking, insurance, and investments. Instructional practices incorporate integration of diversity awareness including appreciation of all cultures and their important contributions to society. The appropriate use of technology is an integral part of this course.
Accounting II
Junior Year
During their junior year, students develop occupational skills based on standard accounting, finance practices, and banking, which include preparing financial statements and calculating financial ratios. Students work towards learning the fundamentals of accounting and taxes and becoming certified in their studies.
Office Management I
Junior Year
During their junior year, students learn about communication, customer service, leadership, teamwork, decision making, and employee management skills in order to understand how to properly manage an office and work with others in a workplace. Students also study what is used in an office, the types of offices, and proper business etiquette.
Principles of Finance
Junior Year
This is a one semester project-based course that furthers a students understanding of accounting and finance. Through group projects and a semester-long corporate investment project, students make connections between finance and accounting. Students grasp an understanding of how to calculate financial ratios, make corporate financial management decisions, and understand the basics of financial statements. Students also apply concepts involved in operating and overhead costs, internal accounting controls, and budgets to their class businesses.
Principles of Marketing
Junior Year
This is a one semester project-based business course that focuses on developing a students understanding and skills in areas of channel management, marketing planning, pricing, marketing-information management, promotion, and selling. Through the completion of projects, students will grasp an understanding of marketing activities.
Principles of Management
Senior Year
This is a one semester project-based course that furthers students understanding of management through group and individual activities. Students develop an understanding of legal and ethical issues that are associated with management and create connections between management and business success.
Principles of Strategies
Senior Year
This is a one semester project-based course that develops students understanding and skills in business law, entrepreneurship, financial analysis, human resources management, and strategic management. Through planning, staffing, leading, directing, organizing, and controlling business activities, students acquire a practical understanding of what is expected and required to open and run a business successfully.
Accounting III
Senior Year
In their senior year, students are focused on analyzing data and making managerial decisions. In addition, students will continue to learn about taxes and receive their regular and advanced certification.
Office Management II
Senior Year
During their senior year, students continue to expand their knowledge and apply past knowledge from Office Management I. They will continue developing their communication, decision making, teamwork, leadership, employee management, and customer service skills.
